First PEPS’ buses rolling in China
(Boucherville, QC) Prestolite E-Propulsion System (PEPS), TM4’s Chinese joint venture with Prestolite Electric Beijing Ltd (PEBL), has successfully completed commissioning of multiple electric bus prototypes powered by TM4 licensed technologies in China.
PEPS, working with several OEM partners and customers over the past months, has been testing and evaluating the new powertrain technologies developed by TM4 to answer the needs of heavy-duty truck and buses. TM4’s heavy duty motors and controllers have received the China National Accreditation Service (CNAS) certification in June 2012, a first step toward commercialisation of these products by PEPS.
PEPS’ production facility, located in the Beijing area, will start production by the end of the first quarter of 2013. This plant will allow PEPS to locally produce up to 4000 systems annually for the Asian market. North America and Europe will be served out of TM4’s Boucherville (Quebec) facilities.
